Potato Rosemary Flat Bread

Have I mentioned I love food? ...Yeah, I think I have.

Last night Max and I were starving and, to make a long story short, our eyes were too big for our stomachs and I ended up making WAY too much pizza dough. I put the remainder into a zippy bag and by this morning it had doubled in size (crazy yeast getting all crazy!) when trying to decide what to do with the leftovers I came up with this lil gem. It was pretty delicious!

Ok, enough talk here's the recipe:

Total time 40 minutes

You'll need:
-Leftover pizza dough (I make my own but you can pretty much get it anywhere these days)
-1 medium red potato
-A few cloves of garlic (the more the better in my opinion, I used 3)
-2 tablespoons of fresh rosemary leaves
-2 tablespoons of olive oil
-Salt to taste
-Pepper to taste
-Cornmeal or parchment paper so your dough doesn't stick to pizza stone/pan

If using a pizza stone place it in a cold oven and preheat said oven to 425 degrees F. Shape the dough into a large oval and either place on a sheet of parchment paper (if using pizza stone) or on a cornmeal-dusted cookie sheet.
In a large bowl toss thinly sliced potato and garlic cloves with the rosemary, olive oil, salt and pepper. Scatter potato mixture evenly over the dough and drizzle with a bit more olive oil if desired. If using parchment place flat bread and parchment together on pizza stone and bake for five minutes. Then using a spatula, carefully separate flat bread and parchment so that the flat bread can finish cooking directly on the pizza stone. ...If using a cookie sheet just place in oven! Bake until golden brown for a total of 25 to 30 minutes.

We dipped ours in last night's leftover pizza sauce and a balsamic/olive oil combo. Because options are always great.

I think this would also be yum with pine nuts or caramelized onions. Let me know how yours turns out!

I like food.

Found this outside and painted it pink. Decided I'll take it with me to restaurants when I'm super hungry and hold it up to my nose when ordering. That way the waitstaff will know that I mean business.

Arrested Development Returns!

So, I've only been waiting the past 8 years for this day and its finally here! Arrested Development is back with an all new Netflix exclusive season.

In commemoration of today's event I whipped up a rendition of the Bluth Frozen Banana, in my own kitchen. Based on the recipe found here.

I give you Ailis' Balboa Island Bluth Frozen Banana Bites.

Because there's always money in the banana stand.

Jimmy Pocket Towel

Back in December I donated money, on Kickstarter, to help fund the Jimmy Pocket Towel project. Their idea was to make quick drying towels that you can keep in your pocket or purse and help cut down on paper towel consumption. Well, mine has finally arrived! I'm so stoked to be a part of their start up and to be more conscious of what I throw away.

Am I back?

We'll see. It's spring, a time for new beginnings. Let's see how motivated I can become!

Hey Gramps, what time is it?

So, it's late and I'm too tired to be witty.
I'm crocheting again, not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
But what I do know for sure is that, when I'm done, I'll have the coolest grandfather clock on the block.
On the clock block.

Thanks to a book by Anne Halliday "Decorating With Crochet" published in the 1970's, I have become inspired to clutter my walls with this awesome crochet clock.

Had to teach myself jacquard (tapestry) crochet which, apparently, is crocheting by looking at a chart/image instead of reading a pattern and requires the use of many, many, many color changes... It's been fun... and tedious... so far.

I have the clock base done. That's about a quarter of the way through. Wooot! I gotta say that making this has turned out to be the best decision I've ever made... Clockwise. Bahahaha.
